Aeronautical engineer Stewart is convinced a new airliner will break up in the air due to structural fatigue. Unfortunately he can't convince his superiors of this. How to make them understand?

Fine thriller with excellent performances, an early forecast of future disaster films. It's not hard to see this film as an inspiration for a certain iconic Twilight Zone episode, as well. The Rutland Reindeer is the silliest looking aircraft ever seen in a film, though.

Based on a Nevil Shute novel; both it and the film have eerie presentiments of the real DeHaviland Comet and its woes, where aircraft began breaking up in the air for an unknown reason (the reason all airline windows are oval and not square nowadays). Comet was one of Santa's reindeer...

Note: It's fairly apparent that there were heavy cuts prior to this film's release, as Felix Aylmer, Karel Stepanek and others who are supposed to be in this film are nowhere to be seen. Similarly, Elizabeth Allan is prominently credited, but only appears briefly with barely one line.
