The Dark Road

There Is No Escape

1948

Alfred Goulding
Director
Hammer Films
Production Company

Life story of an entitled brat turned criminal.

Poorly made early Hammer, full of bad editing and annoying voiceover narration that make a hash of whatever story was intended. Of interest only as Michael Ripper's first Hammer film.

Note: This is a tough one to identify all the actors. BFI is incorrect in attributing the roles of Ann and Sidney Robertson to Joyce Linden and Charles Stuart, however, as can be seen from the photos. Roddy Hughes is listed on IMDb as 'The Chaplain' and appears prominently in trade mentions of this film, but is nowhere to be seen.
