Hawkins: Murder on the 13th Floor

Jud Taylor
MGM Television

West Virginia defense attorney Billy Jim Hawkins travels to New York City, accompanied by his cousin Sheriff R.J. Hawkins, to defend the son of an old flame, who has been charged with the brutal murder of a young woman. While R.J. does some detective work, Billy Jim prepares for the trial, where, in his usual dramatic fashion, he exposes the real killer. Excellent entry in the 1973-74 series of TV movies, with a fine performance by Stewart, and the great Strother Martin at his apex ("I am not a cowboy-there are no cows in West Virginia!")
