Excellent, unusual World War II drama. Charlton Heston plays Lionel Evans, world famous orchestra conductor touring Belgium in December 1944. The Germans, under the command of General Schiller (Maximilian Schell) mount a counter-offensive and the orchestra is taken prisoner. Schiller assures them they will not be harmed if the orchestra will play a concert for him. Evans refuses, and it soon becomes a battle of wits between the two men. Gripping from start to finish.
