The Hand of Night

Beast of Morocco

Man haunted by death of wife and children in a car accident journeys to Morocco. Here he encounters mystery, vampires, and death.

A forgotten horror film that might have a better reputation if a decent DVD would be released. As it is, it's slow-moving to the point of torpor. Sylvester can't carry the weight of his role, Gur looks comatose, and Clare's French accent would embarass Clouseau. Still, there are glimmers of originality, but it's hard to fairly evaluate when extant copies look so sun-bleached and tatty.

Regardless of what IMDb and Wikipedia say, this film was made in 1966. Whether it actually saw release in 1966 is another story; it did play widely on a double-bill with Girl on a Motorcycle in 1968.
