Waxworks mysteriously opens up at same time a lot of people are going missing. If you have seen any horror films, you can guess what's going on...
Very enjoyable film, one of the better films of the 80s horror boom. The protagonists are typical horror movie stereotypes (virgin, slut, clown, etc.), played by once familar but now forgotten faces. The real stars are the waxworks themselves, though, which are very evocative and fueled by the filmmakers obvious love for the genre. Warner's wonderfully unctuous villain and Macnee's ebullient wheelchair bound hero advisor are also highlights. Frequently cited as a horror comedy, but be warned it is a bit gory at times! Too bad the DVD is such a crappy pan & scan transfer.
