Bonnie Prince Charlie

Filmmakers had high expectations for this lavish and expensive production about the Scottish prince and the Jacobite Rebellion, which culminated with the Battle of Culloden Moor in 1746. Unfortunately (and somewhat unfairly) it was panned by most of the critics of the time, but deserves higher praise. Very good performances were given by Jack Hawkins, Charles Goldner, Finlay Currie and Ronald Adam. The film was originally intended to star Leslie Howard and be directed by Michael Powell.
