Curious fusion of Jean-Pierre "Amelie" Jeunet and Joss "Buffy" Whedon makes for an interesting Alien adventure, but certainly not as pulse-pounding as any of the preceding films. The "new" alien creature is a misfire. The crew of the Betty share a number of similarities with the crew of Serenity in Whedon's Firefly.
