A motley crew of tarnished super heroes regroup when one of their number is assassinated.
Too long, too pompous, too violent and over directed which keeps it from being perfect, BUT there are so many great moments, the cast is perfection and the tale is so beautifully plotted, almost like an Agatha Christie novel, that I was swept along (especially when Phil Glass' Koyaanisqatsi popped on the soundtrack).
Certainly the best film of its kind since The Matrix. Recommended.
PS - Leave the kiddies at home.
It should be pointed out that Alan Moore's source graphic novel is also too long, too pompous and too violent, which makes this the most perfect adaptation of the comic book genre ever. And probably the best opening credits sequence since the days of Maurice Binder.
