I had my doubts about this one, given its long filming schedule and the fact it was a sequel made three decades after the last film in the franchise, but. . .(witness me), I was quite wrong.
However you view this, whether you agree it's a feminist retconn, an alternate realty, however you fit into the Max Rockatansky timeline, one thing is true -- this is the Lawrence of Arabia of action films. John Seale's cinematography and Junkie XL's score are both Oscar-worthy, as is Miller's direction.
