The Corpse Vanishes

Case of the Missing Brides

1942

Wallace Fox
Director

This time Lugosi is a mad doctor (surprise!) who's out to restore his wife's fading beauty with injections from the corpses of brides he has murdered with poisoned orchids on the altar. Typically cheap Monogram movie is rough around the edges, but has enough of a creepy atmosphere to make it worthwhile. I wonder if Georges Franju saw this before making Eyes Without A Face (1960) (or at least Jess Franco before he made The Awful Dr. Orlof (1961)?
