Widely regarded as a flop, this is actually a pretty much movie in much the same vein as The Rocketeer, featuring standout performances from Billy Zane, who proves he has the acting chops to be a heroic leading man (even if he looks a little silly cavorting around in purple spandex), and Treat Williams, who dominates every scene he's in as one of cinema's most eccentric and playfully sadistic villains. The wonderful Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa has what amounts to a glorified cameo, but he's welcome all the same. |
