Rollicking sea tale based on the first three C.S. Forester novels, buoyed by a lively Gregory Peck before he became firmly established as the staid representative of 'respectable' (i.e. dull) Hollywood output. Unfortunately, it is slightly hampered by some interpretations of Spaniards that are cringeworthy by today's standards. Still a great adventure, with more introspection and humor than one would expect of a swashbuckler. And for once, the love story doesn't detract from the film as a whole!
Note: While I have used the US print, I have used the British credits, as the US credits only lists seven actors, and most of those names are abbreviated. Ludicrous!
